Nor-West Motel

Very comfortable beds, we were looking for a room with two queen beds in Terrace Bay but could not find anything available. Called into Shreiber to every motel and hotel without any luck until we called the Nor-West, they had 1 room left for our needs and they were nice enough to hold it for us. The room was exactly what you should expect from a Motel, it had two very comfortable beds and a place to drop off and shower. But it also included a lounge area with couch and chair, and a small work station. The beds themselves were also separated into "rooms" which was incredibly nice, a wall between them and curtains for privacy doors. The motel is situated behind other buildings so there's no noise pollution from the Highway (17). We had the end unit so we also had close access to their yard which wasn't overly inviting, however, it would have been a nice place to sit and enjoy the day had we stayed longer.

The overall experience with this room was ok. I got the two doubles room. The room look dated but freshened up. There were some cobwebs and the water didn't get very hot in the tub. I ran it entirely with hot water and the water was cold after 10 mins. There were two fans provided as there is no A/C however one fan did not work. The beds were pretty comfy and the room had a bit of space to it. I consider the price a little high for the amenities that are available but the views are great further up the road in either direction. It was a little odd having to go to the convenience store to get the key.

Considering where this motel is situated (in the middle of nowhere), it has most of the things needed in the room. Its strategically located not far from marathon. Marathon has some wonderful road side scene of the hills and forest. We were on a road trip from Ontario to BC. The room we Slept in didn't had an AC but it did had a fan. There was a Microwave, coffee maker and fridge. There was a penalty book inside our room. It contains the penalty charges if specific items in the room is damage or missing. I would suggest that the hotel get rid of this and add these details digitally in the reservation. It was just not welcoming for us when we see this.Apart from that, it's perfect!!

Looks dodgy on the outside but comfy on the inside. Nice motel (remember not a hotel) sparkling clean and dated but they have a flat screen tv, mini fridge and microwave. You'll feel safe and the price is perfect. We stayed with our baby and bathed her in the bathtub. It's that clean.

My wife and I stayed here 5 years ago. Wonderful proprietor stayed up late to receive us after our trip went awry. I felt like the room I was in was a giant hug from my Grandma. Was also fantastically priced for the quality and cleanliness of the rooms. If I could summarize as succinctly as possible; quiet, cozy, happy.

Got in so late I fell asleep with my sleep blindfold in my hand so it's maybe hard to judge because I slept here, got up and showered and then left. They let us check out a little late so the next night's drive would be safe rather than under rested so this motel is five stars from me. They have three motels in town so the check in and out and all inquiries come from the convenience store central in the tiny town instead of actually being on the motel building properly. We booked the Voy but ended up in It did smell a little musty. The shower was pretty good water pressure and had two settings for spray. We had a fridge and possibly a microwave and a nice desk and couch and a TV. There was WiFi but I was too tired to use it. Decor is very outdated. The bathroom had pink fixtures. Personally, I loved it.

Schitt’s Creek fans will appreciate this motel! We had the fortune of coming here twice this summer. We first met the owner who founded the place in the 60s in July, and on our road trip home met the new owners from The Voy team. The decor and space is dated, but that’s its charm. We stayed in two rooms. Both were clean and fresh. The kids loved the pink baths too!

We came looking for somewhere clean and cheap, and we ended up with way more than that. The rooms were cozy, clean, and toasty warm. And the beds were SO SOFT! Don't believe all the negative reviews of this place. The rooms are lovely, the staff are lovely, and no matter what branch you stay at in town, you'll be close to amenities. Thank you so much for a great respite from winter camping! We'll definitely stay here the next time we're passing through
